A few weeks ago Brian called me on his way home from work. He told me that someone broke into his car and took random things... like his car charger for his phone, a knife... so odd. I then asked him about his laptop. He had to pull over cause he kept his school bag in the trunk. Sure enough it was gone. Brian had to go back to work and call the police. Dang it!! it was a nice new macbook pro that he got in September. Just our luck.
This last weekend we got a ton of snow in this huge storm. I think about 13 inches total. It was crazy. Monday morning I get a call from our apartment manager asking us if it was our car that high centered blocking the entrance/exit. I told him we were all still home so it wasn't ours. He wanted to make sure cause he had already called the tow company to come move it. He said they looked inside the car and thought he saw our names on something. I found this very odd so I went out to look. Sure enough it was Brians car.
SERIOUSLY!
No windows broken. Brian has to use his key to lock the car so he is always careful to do so. After just losing his laptop he was SURE that he had locked the door. So somehow someone is getting into Brians car without a key. We started to dig the car out of the snow it was in. (Who steals a car in a snow storm?!) we were just getting started when a very nice man stopped in his truck and offered his shovel. we then realized it really was high centered on a rock so this man towed us off. He really saved us. YAY for awesome people. This man was able to put Brian back in a good mood.
Brians first stop was to a body shop to see if we could figure out how to they were breaking into his car. We learned that it is very easy to get into the car- locked or not. Brian then went to best buy to get a car alarm. He got the very last of last years model (on sale). The car was left with the guys at best buy for the night to install the alarm.
Viper - came with 2 car remotes that lock the car. The main remote will beep with the car alarm goes off. A very nice feature since we can't always see the car. We were feeling much better with the car alarm. Surly they wouldn't come back for the car - would they?
It was 10 the very night we got the car back and Brians remote starts to beep telling him his alarm is going off. Brian runs down to his car and there is no one around. Strange. Did they really try again? we think so. Thank goodness for viper... now maybe this nightmare will end!!
