After living in the states off and on for 11 years I finally did it. I joined in the Black Friday fun. This was my first year going out to get the best deals. Thursday started with a trip to Walgreens for some pretty sweet deals. We went on to a fabulous turkey dinner with great family and a wonderful visit with my grandfather. I had scoped out the ads and had an idea of what I wanted and needed at each store. I had a group of women to guide me through it all.
We left the house at 8:30pm to our first store.... walmart. Their sale started at midnight. We did a few laps, got a good lay out of the store and were each given assignments based off what was needed on every ones list. I stood there for 2 hours waiting for a palate of toys to be opened. I have NEVER experienced anything like this. IT WAS INSANE. It was so funny to watch people try to take toys early etc. It was NOT funny to hear about 2 of our fabulous women being trampled just for some toys.
Walmart was a success for everyone and we were off to the next store. I believe it was Old Navy which was a total zoo. a 2 hour wait just to check out?? No thanks. With no other stores open at 1 in the morning we decided to head to Denny's and have some food. I guess everyone else had the same idea cause it was packed. and We waited for 1 hour to get our food. and that was with no one even checking on us. But we had some good laughs... Olinda (seriously am I the only one who thinks that sounds like a brand of potato chip?) and of course the poor tortilla Bonita. (you just had to be there)
3 am was Kohls... 4:30 was target... then it was Kmart, Michaels and bath and body works. at 9am my body was screaming to sit. I shopped for just over 12 hours. WHAT?! When I think about it I know that sounds crazy. I am happy to report that I was able to get EVERYTHING on my list. and more importantly I survived Black Friday.
I came home and crashed for a few hours before Brian had to go to work and I had to take care of the kids (although I will admit I am not doing that good of a job taking care of them on 2 hours of sleep... I think I have managed to combine lunch and dinner into one meal in the middle of the afternoon. pizza anyone?!)
Brian asked me if it was worth it and if I was going to go again next year. I think it was worth it. Everyone on my christmas list should be happy this year. As for next year.... we will have to see what the sales bring. Thank you to the 5 fabulous women who let me tag along and experience the whole thing. I am so very tired and my body hurts so very much. Now to wrap some gifts :)
(yes I am writing this on 2 hours of sleep. So if you read it and go huh? please keep that in mind :)

I am so impressed! I think it would be fun to go with people, maybe someday I will have the courage too! Hope all is well, I will likely come up in the spring, so we will have to get together and reminisce!
Good job, Leah! What an adventure Black Friday is. :) Sorry to have missed out on the fun, but glad I didn't travel in all the snow!!!
Oh Leah...Bonita the tortilla was ABSOLUTELY the greatest part of it all.
I am SO very glad you came...and you were so lucky to quit after ONLY 12 hours...we did a full 20 and it was nuts. I ended up with it all in the end so obviously worth it.
Haha glad you enjoyed it...atlesat for the most part. Amazing how much your body aches though isn't it?
