I took James in to the Dr for his 3 year well-check. Everything looks great with James. He was busy playing and singing as usual and the Dr asked what song he was singing. I told him it was The wise man built his house upon the rock. He then asked me where he learned such a song. I told him most likely in church. The Dr was stunned! he couldn't believe that first of all James could sing the song all the way through with actions and no help but that he was also singing in tune and in key. He was shocked. I just smiled... gotta love nursery.
The Dr then asked how potty training was going. I shared with him my frustrations. I had been trying for what seemed to be FOREVER to get James to use the potty. I bought a huge bag of candy and explained that all he had to do was use the potty. I bought him a new Elmo potty that would tell him what a great job he was doing for using the potty. I put up a potty chart and showed him the awesome stickers he could have when he used the potty - but still nothing. We talked about it everyday. If you asked James about it he could tell you what he got when he used the potty.... candy, stickers and a scooter for JAMES!! he would get so excited about it all but still no using of the potty. The doctor then told me that every year he has one child that is struggling to be potty trained for kindergarten. I thought he was joking but he wasn't. I feared that I might just have that child. The thought terrified me.
A few DAYS later James asked for a treat from him huge bag of treats set aside for using the potty. I told him he could have the treat when he used the potty. next thing I know he is sitting on the big potty (yes the Elmo potty was a total waste). For the rest of the day he was using the potty. NO ACCIDENTS!! not even one. and just like that we are down to one in diapers. oh happy day :) James was much easier to potty train then Spencer. Once he decided he was ready he was ready. Awesome.
So cute in his underwear - Which is on backwards
James is my singer. He is always singing songs. Songs from the radio, songs from church. Our new favorite game is to start a song... a word or two and James picks it up and sings the rest. we even interrupt that song with a new one and he switches with ease. He is a strong willed child that frustrates me most days but he more then makes up for it with his cute snuggles and fabulous singing.
