Last weekend we took the kids to the festival of trees. Our first stop was to see Santa. It is so much fun to see the great joy in my kids eyes as they go to sit on Santa's lap and talk to him about what they want for Christmas. James is still unsure about what that question means. I don't even think he asked for anything. Spencer on the other hand has been very specific. He wants a lady bug pillow pet and a remote controlled helicopter.
we quickly got a picture with all the kids. Brynlee did start to cry and that was that.
After Santa we went and had dinner with Cousins at the Mayan. We had perfect seats to watch the cliff divers. The kids all loved it - well almost all of them. Brynlee would catch a glimpse of the divers jumping and she didn't understand where they were going. totally freaked her out. after a while she didn't like it even a little.
After dinner it was back to the Festival of Trees to actually look at the trees. I loved to see all the ideas and all the beautifully decorated trees. Made my tree seem so sad. I think the trees are a great way to raise money for the Primary Children's medical center and also to remember those that have passed. More then once I got a little teary eyed looking at the pictures and stories of those who the tree was in memory of.
This was my favorite picture. It is a bunch of blue trees bent and tilted to look like a wave for Santa. It was so cool. There really were some amazing trees this year.
The end of the evening was spent watching my niece perform with her choir. While we were waiting I suddenly hear "would James' mom please come to the information booth" my heart sank and I frantically looked for James. He was nowhere to be found. Brian and I hurried over to the information desk to find James telling a story to kind ladies that had found him. They tried to get him to tell them if he had another name... he simply told them he was 3. They asked him what his Mommy's name was. His response, "mommy". I guess we were lucky to have such great people working there.
It was a great night. We love to do all these fun Christmas activities.
and a special thanks to my sister in law for these pictures. She took them ALL, even the ones of my kids with Santa. The others I stole from her blog :)

my boys wouldn't have anything to do with santa this year, wouldn't get within 10 feet of him. but they have full expectation that he is going to bring them excavators and trains, so at least they have faith in his abilities.
