I love this picture. it seems to capture the personalities of both my boys. Spencer is very laid back and easy going. James... not so much. When Spencer was 2 I remember thinking... 2 isn't so bad... who says "terrible two's"? Spencer was a great toddler, esp compared to James. Terrible Twos has a whole new meaning to me. Some days its like... WOW, where did you come from?! James gets into everything and he seems to always be whining. I can't stand the whining. I guess I was a little vocal about my dislike of this behavior. I may have said, once or twice, "can I give him away?" Obviously I was joking... but I guess I forget who might be listening. The other day, Spencer was playing nicely by himself and James started bugging him. Spencer finally got so fed up he turned to me and said, "mom I think we need to give James away." I had to smile to myself, but then ask, "who are we going to give him away to?"
Spencer thought about this for a while and finally came back and said "Ian, we can give him away to Ian."
I had to laugh, and then explain that we love James and could never give him away to anyone, not even Ian. Since then I am happy to report that James is getting a lot better. He is cute and sweet again, and the whining is coming to an end. Most of the time Spencer and James play great together. I am glad they will always have each other as brothers. There is nothing like having a sibling close. I hope they will always love each other.
