Birthday Boy

Spencer must think his birthday lasts for a week! We did a lot of fun things for Spencer's birthday this year. On his actual birthday we made his favorite breakfast, roll pancakes, and let him open his gifts from us.
He was very excited. James and Spencer played with these new toys all day.

Brian had to work all week except Thursday. We took this last chance before school starts to do some fun things as a family. Spencer had a free meal at our favorite place in Utah county to eat, the Brick Oven. So we went there for lunch.

Spencer even got his very own lollipop sundae.
After lunch we took the boys around the corner to FatCats to go bowling. Spencer was so excited. They put up the bumpers and gave us the helper for the boys. James would push his ball down and then jump like crazy.
Spencer didn't use the helper for long. He wanted to bowl like his dad... although he realized it was hard to throw the ball with his fingers in the hole. So he would run and slide on his knees before letting his ball go. It was so fun to watch.
The boys were great. I loved watching them help each other and cheer for each other. I just know these two will be great friends :) Spencer is a great big brother. Always helping.
James would insist on carrying his ball himself... that is until he would realize it was too heavy for him to get very far. He would pick it up and then walk around saying "heavy" and wait for someone to help. Either that or he would drop it. The boys really loved bowling. They ask to go back all the time. This is something I think we will be doing again.
On Saturday it was finally time for Spencer's birthday party. He was so excited for his friends to get there he pushed the stool up to the door so he could watch for them.
He insisted on a transformer party. For cake I just made cupcakes and put on the autobot and decepticon logos on them. Of course Bumblebee had to stand on top.
We played lots of games. (how else do you occupy a bunch of 5 year olds?) Spencer was so excited about getting a pinata. I was just excited to find a transformer one already made. The kids were great and hitting it. It was sturdy thing and took quiet a beating before breaking open. After he was finally open and the kids got all their candy they really let the pinata have it.
We played "bumblebee says". They were all so cute in their transformer masks. Spencer, Blake, Kyson, Caleb, JJ, Cooper, Madysen and even James.
It was finally time to sing happy birthday. These poor kids did their best and with no adult help leading it really didn't sound great. I was laughing too hard to help. eventually we got them on the right path.
It was a great Birthday week for Spencer. He is so proud to be 5 and he tells everyone who will listen. Its hard for me to see him growing up so fast, and at the same time I am so proud of Spencer. He is such a kind hearted boy. He is a great friend and a wonderful brother.

This last video is of James trying to carry the 6 pound bowling ball. I thought it was so funny. He is a character!!
