MORE

I guess my running inspired some people in my family to start running too. namely my older sister Adele. She did the same couch to 5K program I did and I told her she should come down and run a 5K. I know when I signed up for my first  race it was a big motivator for me and I hoped it would do the same for her. and to be honest I didn't mind the extra push to keep running as well. So we found a race close, just in South Jordan for the MORE project. It was the same weekend as Canadian Thanksgiving which was perfect for Del. She even managed to get her daughter inspired to start running as well. Unfortunately Sarah got really really sick and couldn't train for the race :(  but she came anyway and was part of our cheering section.

Del and  Sarah left Calgary around 4am Friday ... the same time I work up with the worst stomach pain. We had gone out for the BEST sushi with Toni and Brad and my parents the night before and I was pretty sure I had eaten bad sushi. I had heard that food poisoning is the worst thing to experience and was not excited for my whole family to be sick. as I laid in bed listening to Brian sleep peacefully I thought maybe it wasn't the sushi after all... maybe it was the flu. It wasn't long before I was throwing up and in some serious pain. and yes I was the only one who was sick... so it wasn't the delicious sushi from the night before.

I spent the day in bed sleeping and not eating. I feel tired and my stomach would cramp in the worst way possible. How was I suppose to get up the next morning and run a 5K?!

Del and Sarah arrived about 6pm. I was feeling a little better and had not thrown up in a long time. everyone decided on Rumbi for dinner and I ordered a yummy soup hoping I could keep it down. The next morning I felt totally fine and got ready to run.

Here we are at the beginning of the race

as we ran past our cheering section

Our Cheering section: Joe, Spencer, Sarah, Ian, James and Brynlee

This is the end of the race... doing our best to sprint to the end

The finish line complete with our time.

This is the same time I had for my first 5K back in June. Not bad considering I had no food the day before. Del was an awesome running mate. She had a GPS on her iphone and would update me on every kilometer we went. My stomach cramped only once during the race. I did spend the rest of the day with the worst stomach cramps ever... but I finished the race!

Thanks for running with me Del. Next time maybe I will come up north to run a race with you.

Anyone else want to run a 5K with me? how about a 10K? or even a 1/2 marathon?? anyone? I know you think I am joking but I am seriously considering the Salt Lake 1/2 Marathon in April... Anyone??

I'll run a 10K but I am not sure about a 1/2. FYI, David thinks the Provo Canyon Half is better than the Salt Lake Half. Though as I am writing that, I am not sure if it is just the view he likes better or if it is the course he likes better.

I'm planning on re-starting to the Couch to 5k after this baby comes! Maybe this summer I can sneak down there and run with you! Or, since it doesn't get as hot up here, maybe you can sneak up here and run one with me? :)

I wish I was close by so we could run together! I am NO running expert at all, but seriously think you could do a half marathon. I think it takes training and dedication and good health and that is it... and if you're up for both then you should do it! I ran the Ogden half marathon a few years ago (my first half marathon ever) and loved it because it went at a steady down-hill the entire time winding through the canyon. I have never gone as fast as that one yet. But I think it is in spring, so maybe that can be a goal for after the Salt Lake one!

Jessica... you were the one that got me up to running a 10K! I am sure you could do a half. there is an app for it :) (its on sale right now too.. I just downloaded it)

Shanae... oh that we could travel! if money wasn't an issue I would totally consider it. running in the utah heat is NOT FUN!

Chelsea... I will have to look into the Ogden one, the provo one too. I am up for anywhere as long as it is not in the summer. I don't run well in heat.

thanks for all the encouragement girls. makes me think I might actually be able to do it... YIKES!

Awesome idea, and you can totally do it! If I could travel in April I would run a halfy with you! I still feel bummed that I got sick for the Provo Canyon run. I am determined to get back to running 5, 10, and 13 miles again.
