Mother's Day

Mother's day was wonderful. My Mum was here for a week and we had so much fun. I love it when family comes to visit. My kids love it when family comes to visit, especially grandma. Sadly she had to leave early Sunday morning. So we had to get all the mother's day celebrating in before she left. Friday Spencer insisted that Brian take him out to buy some gifts. I thought Brian had told him about this but it turns out that Spencer came up with this on his own, which I find adorable. They returned with flowers for grandma and a pink wii- mote for me. He was so proud of himself.

Saturday morning Brian took Mum and I to mother's day brunch at Thanksgiving Point. I had been looking forward to this all week. It was fabulous! Brian had made the reservation weeks in advance and we were thrilled that Mum could be here and come with us.

Saturday afternoon we went to Madysens baptism. It is always nice to see some make the choice to follow the example of the savior and be baptized. Madysen is such a special girl, a great example to her younger cousins. Spencer was totally taken by the baptism and asked when he could be baptized. He was talked about it a lot since. I am glad that he was moved and hope he will make the choice to follow the example.

Sunday we were sad to say good-bye to my Mum. She came down with a friend and was on her timetable. I was teaching relief society and was busy doing my lesson. The lesson was on Prophets of God and I feel lucky that my grandparents on both sides had many experiences with many prophets throughout the years. I love teaching, it is allowing me to have all kinds of conversations with my family about experiences they have had.

Brian made dinner and I just enjoyed spending time with my little family. This mothers day I got a chance to reflect on motherhood and on what type of mother I want to be. I was able to make some goals for myself on what I want to do to be better. I really love being a mom. It is hard, but I am not sure I would change it for anything. I have a lot that I would like to change and be better at. My kids are definitely teaching me more then I could teach them :)

I feel so blessed to have a good example of motherhood in my mother. She has taught me so much that I am not sure words could describe it. Growing up she worked in the office at my ballet studio so that she could afford for me and sisters to dance. She sacrificed so much then and continues to sacrifice today. I got to talk to both of my sisters on Sunday. They too are wonderful examples to me of motherhood. They have both endured some major trials in their lives. I am blessed to have them in my life.

To all the wonderful women in my life.... I hope you had a very special Mother's day!

Very sweet post Leah! I so love you! Happy Mother's Day!
We are happy to hear of Spencer's excitement to one day be baptised! Wouldn't it be neat to do a cousin baptism...maybe somewhere cool? Guess we have a while to make plans!
I also love your mother! She is a very sweet and neat lady! Thanks for sharing her with us!
