Today is my dad's Birthday. He is 67 years old!
My dad, or Paka as my children call him, is a great man. I have many great memories of him. A lot revolve around sitting at the table and just talking, usually about the Gospel but really it could be about anything. A few years ago Brian and I got to go on a cruise with my parents and my younger brother and his wife. We sailed around Hawaii and it was BEST! Some of my favorite memories in Hawaii were the one lane road, for whatever reason I was always the driver and I suddenly found myself on a one lane road. My calm father just encouraged me the whole time and had total faith in me (or maybe it was faith in the horn I would constantly honk when there was a blind corner). He was also eager to get on a scooter and drive around Kona until we found the Temple. He was also excited to get in the ocean and snorkel around with us. It was so fun and full of many fabulous memories. We can't wait to go back with them.
My Dad is a very calm man. He always just goes with the flow. He loves nothing more than to take pride in his children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments. He has always been supportive of his kids and whatever they wanted to do. He had confidence in our ability to make good choices. I love my father very much. and hope he has a wonderful birthday.
Happy Birthday Paka
