Greetings from up North

Just thought I would check in with a short update on our trip to Canada so far. Our drive up was great. Spencer asked the infamous question, "are we there yet?" before we even got to Ogden. But after that the question didn't come again for a while. Spencer was so good. He stayed in his cars seat the WHOLE time we were driving. And he only watched one DVD. I was impressed. James did well. He wanted to get out more. And I got him out a little and let him jump on the backseat for a bit when we were in the middle of no where. But for the most part he was in his car seat. We left about 7am and got to my brother house in Lethbridge about 7pm. Not bad with all our stops and we were at least 30min at the boarder.

Spencer was so excited to see his cousin Ethan. They are a month apart and have a blast together. I wasn't sure they would ever go to bed. Then next morning we were in the car again to Calgary. It is about 2 1/2 hours from my brothers house to my parents house. Spencer went in Ethan's car and James slept the whole time. Mum was so excited to have us in her new house. it has been 2 years and 2 months since their house fire and they are only now moving back in. Their place looks great and it is fun to be back.

The next day we went to Heritage Park with Jon and his 3 kids. Heritage park has an old steam train that goes around the park. It has a ferry type boat that does a small circle around the reservoir and lots of old school rides like the whip and a small Farris wheel. The kids loved it. Brian and I even took Spencer back the next day. He loves the train. They have an old train museum so you can walk through the old coaches and engines. Is is the perfect place for Spencer. James just enjoys being outside.

On Saturday we drove another 2 1/2 hours north to Wetaskiwin where my parents have been mostly living while their house was being rebuilt. My dad has an office there and they bought a small house that they fixed up for themselves. It is a small town and they were having an airshow. We got to see some great planes doing some crazy tricks and the highlight was the snowbirds that flew over head in some great formations. It was fantastic. We went to church up there and came back to Calgary sunday night. Brian left to go back to Draper monday. It was so great to have him there with us. I am now in Airdrie, just north of Calgary, babysitting my brothers kids while his wife is in Europe.

Sorry for no pictures. I will post those as soon as I get home. I got some good ones. The rest of the week I am hoping to see some of my friends. It is hard to make some schedules work when you have 2 kids to think about. More to come.
