I was starting to wonder if this day would ever come. Brian and I would talk to Spencer about using the potty but he was not interested. We kept his little potty out where he could see it and talked about it almost everyday. The response was simple, "nope, not today".
One day I was in Walmart and I saw a potty training system on sale and I thought maybe Spencer needed something more. I bought it and as soon as Brian opened it Spencer was all over it. It had a bear and a potty with a sink. We had Spencer teach the bear how to use the potty and wash his hands. Next thing I knew Spencer was wearing underwear and using the potty. I was thrilled. The next day was Sunday and Spencer was too sick to go to nursery. Brian stayed home with the boys while I went to church. When I came home I learned that Spencer had used the potty all day and no accidents. WOW!! I was so proud.
Well Brian must have been my secret weapon cause Monday did not go so well. I had changed his clothes 3 times just in the morning. He caught on better in the afternoon. So for a week I was taking his little potty with us wherever we went (my Mum was in town so I was up at my sister a lot) Spencer was staying dry and remembered to use his potty all the time. I wish that he was as fast at catching on to going poo. For over a week I have been changing gross underwear. What is the deal? I had no idea that it would be this hard. It is taking everything I have not to put him back in diapers. I have to have faith that he will eventually get it. If anyone has any advice I would sure love to hear it. For now I am just happy to see my little boy looking and acting so big. it is great!
