Christmas

This Christmas was a special one. It is my Moms 60th Birthday on Christmas eve and my whole family was up in Calgary. We had decided we weren't going up for lots of reasons, no where to stay, weather, and James hates the car. but when Toni and said they were going up I felt bad being the only one not there for my mom's birthday and Christmas. so we decided we would go and surprise my mom. Well Spencer got a nasty cold that came with a bad cough the week before Christmas. I tried my best to keep James healthy but he got it anyway. The day before we left I had a very sick baby. He was limp and lethargic and very sleepy. He was congested and coughing. We almost didn't go. but James had a pretty good night and seemed a little better the next morning so we made the 12 hour drive to Morgan's house in Lethbridge. The boys were pretty good and the roads were great. Saturday we drove up to Calgary to my sister Adele's house. my parents rang the doorbell and we had Spencer open the door. my Mom's first thought was, "that little boy looks like Spencer" it took her a minute and then she realized it was Spencer. My parents were both very surprised to see us. They were feeling bad that the whole family would be together except for us so they were happy that we came. We managed to surprise my Mom again on her birthday with a brunch with everyone there, 14 adults and 19 grandchildren. It was quite the party and my Mom was elated to have us all there together.

Christmas eve we went to my brother Jon house with Morgan and Amanda. The kids enjoyed leaving reindeer food on the front steps and cookies for Santa. Sleep was slow to come for them but it was fun to have them altogether. We were up early opening presents. My parents came over in the morning to watch the mayhem.. it was a blast. When all the presents were open Jon made a great breakfast of pan cakes and bacon. After playing with toys for most of the day we went to a big house where my sister was house sitting for Christmas dinner and games. we played a new game that we got called "what's yours like?" it was great fun. lots of fun memories with the family. I think Spencer really enjoyed being with cousins and we had fun being with the family. James still has a cough but slept great (still sleeping through the night). It was a great Christmas!!
